Working together for better learning conditions: Exchange with Engineers Without Borders
Another important item on the agenda during Ben's visit to Hamburg was his personal participation in a meeting of the Hamburg project working group of Engineers Without Borders. This meeting was particularly valuable for Ben, as the joint project directly relates to his own school, the P. Brainy Kids Academy in Ghana.
The collaboration between Engineers Without Borders and Ben's school was initiated in 2022 through the mediation of Thomas. Since then, the Hamburg regional group has been committed to sustainably improving the school's sanitary infrastructure and thus creating healthier learning conditions for the children.
A significant milestone has now been reached: The new sanitary facilities are completed and are already being used by the students. In addition, a rainwater harvesting system has been installed, which supports the water supply and the sustainable operation of the facilities.
During the personal meeting in Hamburg, Ben had the opportunity to exchange information directly with the dedicated members of the project group about the progress made so far, the next steps and possible perspectives for further cooperation.
The discussion focused not only on the long-term use and maintenance of the new infrastructure, but also on how the successful partnership could be further developed in the future. It is particularly important to us that the experiences and needs of the local people remain central.
For us, this collaboration is an excellent example of how personal contacts, voluntary commitment, and professional expertise can lead to concrete improvements. What once began through Thomas's mediation has developed into a valuable partnership from which the children and the entire school community benefit.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Hamburg project group of Engineers Without Borders for their exceptional commitment, long-standing collaboration, and open exchange with Ben. We look forward to developing further perspectives together and continuing to support the positive development of the school in the future.
