Our annual report 2024

The year 2024 was characterized by challenges and impressive successes for us. Our mission to improve the educational infrastructure in Ghana and give children better opportunities for education remained at the heart of everything we did. Despite unforeseen events, we were able to make sustainable progress thanks to our dedicated supporters.

Milestones 2024

1st challenge: Storm damage to the school building

A major event this year was the collapse of the roof of a classroom during a heavy storm at night. Fortunately, no one was injured. However, the damage was extensive and we had to act quickly to cover the repair costs and get the school back up and running. Thanks to the swift support of our partners and donors, we were able to repair the classroom within a few weeks and ensure that the children were able to continue learning.

2. improved learning conditions

In addition to repairing the roof, we were also able to make further improvements to the infrastructure. Particularly valuable support came from the Hamburg association “Bridges for Children”, which financed new and better benches for all pupils. These significantly improved the learning conditions and made lessons more comfortable.

3. securing the water supply

Providing children with clean drinking water remains a key task. In 2024, we continued to provide “Pure Water Packs” - hygienically packaged water that ensures children stay healthy and maintain their concentration during lessons.

4. expansion of leisure facilities

A safe space for play and exercise is essential for children's development. That's why a larger play area was completed this year, offering pupils space for recreation and social interaction.

5. appreciation of employees

At the end of the year, we were able to pay our dedicated employees a small bonus to recognize their hard work and continued support. Their dedication has been instrumental in overcoming the challenges of the year and continuing to support the children.

Outlook for 2025

With a successful 2024 behind us, we are looking forward to 2025 full of hope. Our goals are ambitious:

  • Increase in the number of pupils to 100 children: We want to give more children access to education and are confident that we will achieve this goal.
  • Opening of the cafeteria: The construction of the cafeteria was completed in 2024 and we are looking forward to officially opening it in the new year. This will not only improve the children's meals, but also represent another step towards a comprehensive educational environment.
  • Continuation of infrastructure projects: In addition to expanding and securing the school buildings, we want to further optimize the water supply.

Thanks to our supporters

We would like to thank all our supporters, donors and volunteers from the bottom of our hearts. Without your generosity, the rapid repair of the storm damage would not have been possible, nor would the many other successes of this year. Your commitment makes a real difference to children's lives.

Together with you, we look forward to making 2025 another successful year for the Beneficial Project.

Outlook for changes in the education system in Ghana

With the 2024 elections and the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama, important changes in the area of primary education could be on the horizon. Mahama has announced plans to improve the infrastructure of elementary school, particularly in rural areas, and to build new school buildings and carry out renovations. In addition, free teaching materials are to be provided and teachers are to be better trained and motivated. Another goal is to expand the school meals program in order to increase enrolment and attendance rates. The digitalization of primary school education, with the introduction of tablets and educational software, is also being driven forward. These measures promise to improve access and quality of primary education in Ghana. We are looking forward to the results and will keep an eye on developments.
