Goodbye
Unfortunately we have to leave today, but we take home some wonderful memories. We now know that everything is prepared and that we are looking forward to the future of our school. With Ben, we have created a 3-year plan in which we have defined...
Benches, benches, benches
Ben and we got the first school benches. We hope to be able to finish the 5th and 6th classroom soon. But the first four classrooms are already an important step for us.
School opening
Today is the day we have been waiting for for almost 3 years: We have opened the school with the first 40 children! It's hard to put into words what we are experiencing here, but 'overwhelming' and 'wonderful' meets...
Finally back here... and what a sight!
We finally came back here and first thing we did was drive to our school. What a sight. Makes you a bit proud.
Greetings from the very top
Ben greets you all very warmly! He's sitting on our tween roof right now and inspects the construction that will be filled next. It's good to have a site manager as headmaster.
Almost finished roof
Our roof has been poured and, as you can see on the pictures, is now being reinforced so that we can build the second floor one day. Please excuse the quality, but Ben's cell phone is broken and he helps himself with a rental cell phone.
BEFORE IT GETS TOO QUIET...
For a while the construction was at a standstill because we lacked the necessary funds. Now we will at least be able to continue with the roof.
OUR ARCHITECT, SITE MANAGER AND SCHOOL DIRECTOR
Ben proudly presented us this picture today. He sends us regular updates via Whatsapp and his grin was the most beautiful picture today.
OUR FIRST STATE OF AFFAIRS
Our first intermediate status already shows the basic structure. Plenty of room for education and creativity.
GHANAIN FUNDAMENT
Here you get an insight into the construction of the foundation. Sand & gravel form the subsoil and with the cement blocks we have created a ground level foundation, as our property is slightly sloping.
