On your mark, get set, go!
The second UNESCO project week at Arnkielstrasse Elementary School in Hamburg kicked off once again with a sponsored run in Wohlers Park. This year, the children in grades 1 through 4 ran laps to raise funds for our school project in Ghana, as well as for Viva con Agua and their work to improve sanitation in Nepal. The weather was also kind to us, and the children were able to run with great enthusiasm, basking in the occasional ray of sunshine that peeked through the slowly changing leaves. They were cheered on by their classmates, who offered loud support from the sidelines, and even the headmaster, Mr. Bräuer, once again encouraged the children with his drumming. The staff was busy stamping the runners' lap cards after each completed lap. Thomas Jenckel and Viva Con Agua, along with a team of helpers and their "Alpagua" mascot, also cheered the children on with high-fives and music. Overall, it was another successful and enjoyable start to the event, and now everyone is eagerly collecting donations from their supporters. Many thanks in advance to everyone who supported the run and the children with their good cheer, voices, sweat, and donations.
